Thinking about booking that dream ski vacation? You know, the one where you have the perfect vacation rental in a complex with great amenities and you step right out to the slopes? We’re here to help. This edition of The Keystone Top 5 ranks the ski-in/ski-out complexes so you can make an informed decision.
But…
Before we unveil our top five, we need to share some important insider information: there are only two ski-in/ski-out complexes in Keystone! It’s true. So our Top 5 is actually a Top 2 with three complexes that are the next best thing.
So, without further ado, we present:
The Keystone Top 5: Ski-in/Ski-out Complexes
Coming in at No. 1 is Lone Eagle Above River Run. This complex is on the River Run slope and you’re about fifty yards uphill from the gondola. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, simply head outside, step into your skis, and ski down to the gondola. This convenience just can’t be beat. Lone Eagle also boasts a covered patio for all of its guests to share. It faces the slopes so you can watch family and friends come down while sitting back and enjoying a hot beverage by the fire pit. Other amenities include a pool, hot tub, fitness facilities and an owner’s club with complimentary newspapers and beverages. Plus, the heated driveway and sidewalks make for easy commutes by car or by foot. The properties in this complex feature high-end finishes and private laundry.
And in second place we have The Timbers on River Run. This is the other ski-in/ski-out complex in Keystone and it’s located next to the first one on our list, Lone Eagle. You’re a little over fifty yards uphill from the gondola so when you’re ready to hit the slopes, just step into your skis and ski down. This kind of convenience makes for a smooth vacation. The Timbers also features a swim-in/swim-out pool–enter and exit the heated pool from inside the complex instead of outside when the weather is a bit cold. There’s also a hot tub, fire pit, sauna, steam room and fitness facilities. The lobby features high-end finishes, a fireplace, a baby grand piano and game tables with inlaid chessboards. All properties in this complex feature high-end finishes and private laundry.
Keystone is home to only two true ski-in/ski-out complexes, and those got the top two spots on our list. But there are complexes that come close to being ski-in/ski-out. The Springs grabs the third spot on our list because it’s about a hundred yards from the gondola. Grab your gear, head out of the complex and in less than a minute you’re at the bottom of the River Run slope. The Springs also features great amenities for families with children: a pool with a slide and waterfall, a hot tub, a wading pool with sprayers and a fire pit for making s’mores. Inside you have an indoor children’s play area and a media room for movie watching.
And in the fourth spot we have tie between Black Bear Lodge and Jackpine. Both are about 150 yards from the gondola, and on top of that, they’re also in the heart of River Run Village. In less than a minute you can be at the bottom of the River Run slope or at shops and restaurants in the center of the village. The complexes together feature a hot tub, sauna, fitness facilities and access to the shared pool at Dakota Lodge.
And last, but certainly not least, is Chateaux DuMont. This complex is located in the Mountain House Base Area and is less than 150 yards from the Argentine lift. Many guests prefer the quiet atmosphere in this part of the resort while also getting to take advantage of being so near the slopes. The premier feature of this complex is that most properties have a private hot tub. No waiting your turn or trekking through the cold to soothe those sore muscles after a long day on the slopes. Simply change into your swimsuit and walk through your living room to the hot tub!
