The Summit County Top 5: Pools

There are lots of reasons to come to Summit County in the summer: festivals, whitewater rafting, biking, canoeing, fishing, the list goes on! But sometimes you just want to kick back in a great pool and enjoy the mountain views.

On this edition of the Summit County Top 5 we’re giving you our list of what we consider the top five pools. Agree? Disagree? Let us know in the comments!

#1 THE SPRINGS

First on the list is The Springs. When it comes to being kid-friendly, this complex has truly outdone itself. Not only is there an outdoor heated pool with a waterfall and slide, there’s wading pool with sprayers, fire pit and shared grill area. On top of all that, there’s also a hot tub that is perfect for adults while the kids splash around in the pool. And indoors is a media room and play area. We have several vacation rentals in this building, but the star of summer of is #8811 with its poolside patio.

#2 DAKOTA LODGE

Taking the second spot is Dakota Lodge. It’s in the heart of River Run Village and features the largest, year-round heated, outdoor pool in the entire resort. Not to mention, there are also two oversized hot tubs. The icing on the cake? The spectacular slope views feature Keystone Mountain. And if you stay at Dakota, you can snag one of our vacation rentals that overlook the pool so you can watch family and friends from the balcony (or see when the hot tubs are empty!). Bonus, guests of the following complexes all have access to the Dakota Lodge pool and hot tubs: The Alders, Arapahoe Lodge, Black Bear Lodge, Buffalo Lodge, River Run Townhomes, Silver Mill and Trapper’s Crossing.

#3 WATER HOUSE

No. 3 on the list is Water House in Breckenridge. Located just off of Main Street this swim-in/swim-out pool features wide views and sits on Maggie Pond. It has swimming lanes and a spacious patio with plenty of seating. There are also six outdoor hot tubs spread around the complex for guests to enjoy. This is truly an oasis for guests all summer long.

#4 SETTLER’S CREEK

And at the 4th spot is Settler’s Creek in East Keystone. The clubhouse, also known as Minnie’s Cabin, puts all their amenities in a centralized location. The beautiful heated pool features a spacious deck with lots of seating, and there are two hot tubs. Next to the pool is the cabin featuring a pool table, a wet bar for entertaining, a large flat screen TV and shower and restroom facilities. The shared grill area is right outside with extra seating. With everything you need within a few feet of each other, it’s no wonder this one made our list.

#5 BUFFALO RIDGE

Coming in at No. 5 is Buffalo Ridge in Silverthorne. This sprawling complex has a wide variety of amenities including three indoor pools. There are several hot tubs in each building plus game rooms and lounge areas. There’s also a racquetball court, tennis court and frisbee golf. Throw in nearby hiking and biking trails and the beaver ponds, you might need to extend your stay just to take advantage.

HONORABLE MENTION: EAST LAKE POOL

East Lake Pool has a clubhouse that houses the indoor pool and hot tub with a wall of windows. There’s also a sauna and a large deck on the water with a grill and plenty of seating. Nearby is a picnic area and playground. But there’s more! Located in Lakeside Village, you have access to all the lake activities plus the shops and restaurants nearby. With this much fun to be had you’ll have a hard time making it back to your vacation rental! The following complexes allow access to East Lake: Decatur, Lakeshore, Willows.
