WHAT IS MUD SEASON?

Most people choose to visit our vacation rentals in Colorado in either the summer or the winter. In summer, you know it’ll be dry and warm for hiking or fishing. In the winter, you can hit the slopes for skiing and snowboarding. However, in the springtime, there’s a bit of overlap between the seasons, which can result in somewhat unpredictable weather with slushy trails and slopes. In general, when most people talk about mud season in Colorado, they’re referring to April and May. Mud season is a wonderful time to try out our lakeview rentals as well.

WHY IS IT A GOOD TIME TO VISIT?

We know what you’re thinking: if the towns are quiet and the slopes and trails aren’t great during mud season, why should I come? There are plenty of reasons!

First, it’s much less crowded. The skiers and snowboarders have all packed up and gone home, while the summer tourists haven’t yet made their way to Summit County. That’s all great news for you! You’ll be able to easily reach any attraction you please without any wait time or fighting the crowds.

Since there are fewer people in town during mud season, businesses often do everything they can to bring people in the door. Summit County has some amazing restaurants, and many of them offer local discounts to those people who are still in the area during mud season.

Finally, since you’ll essentially have the town to yourself, you can get incredible rentals in Colorado at outstanding prices.
